Key programming..Please Help!!!
The key for my 2006 E350 will lock and unlock all the doors and open the trunk. It will not start the car. Is there a way for me to program this without taking it the dealer? I can't even turn the key. It just allows me to stick it in. It seems like it's just locked.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Does your other key start the car?
- If so, then the issue is with the key or key programming in the car, and not the car itself.
- If you can't start the car with either key, then the issue is with the car itself.
Assuming the other key does start the car, the only thing I could think of trying is to start the car with the working key, then turn it off. Then put the non-working key in the ignition slot and let it sit for a while, perhaps even an hour (I doubt this will work, but it's something I saw several years back that was tried by someone else).

hers E350 / his E55
this is what I saw with others having similar problems. I don't know if this works or not as I have not had this issue.

Thinking about this some more, I see two possible reasons for this working. I cleaned the little window on the key fob and ignition switch but I also pushed the window into the switch with the Q-tip. I'm not sure which did the trick. Yesterday, the key would not turn twice. I used the same technique. It took 4 or 5 tries to get it to work this time. Since someone's auto club got their's running by inserting a ballpoint pen in the ignition switch window, I am thinking it must have been that action that really allowed the key to turn. I'm going to replace all or part of the switch and/or key fob.
