New 135K Warranty for CPO - Questions
1. Has anyone researched the new warranties?
2. Are you able to cancel, and re-purchase a different warranty from MB?
I saw in other threads there are 135K warranties, but have been told it no longer covers the airmatic suspension.
Anyone research these? Shopping around I can save some money and get the 35k extra miles if all is equal.

How many miles on your car currently? I can get you some info.
135K coverage sure sounds nice, but without airmatic you're gonna spend more fixing the car then you spent on the warranty on the way to 135K! Probably 3x as much.

Could you give me the source as to where it says that airmatic is not covered. I bought an ELW (not a CPO extended but a regular factory 3/100 extended since I'm the original owner and still under warranty.) The finance person I spoke with told me about the new CPO being extended and claimed it was no different than the current 100k CPO extended (just has 35k miles added to it.)
And it doesn't make sense to me that they would consider removing suspension components from the warranty. That would mean you wouldn't be covered if you got the 135k but would if you got the 100k.
Or that the 100k won't cover it anymore either.
Doesn't make good marketing sense. The CPO program is all about being able to sell cars coming off of lease. This extra 35k is another MBUSA incentive to put people in CPO cars.
And it doesn't make sense to me that they would consider removing suspension components from the warranty. That would mean you wouldn't be covered if you got the 135k but would if you got the 100k.

Plus it implies that Airmatic is not reliable if that is the case and it is indeed not covered.

Never mind, I answered my own question. I just got off the phone with the finance person at the dealership.
Another example of internet mythology. (Want a crappy education, get a degree from Google.
)
The new extended warranty covers everything just like the current 100k. You'll pay extra of course, but it's a new incentive to move used lease cars off the lot.

Wow, great news if this is true. Are you saying that I can extend my CPO 100K 7 year warranty to 135K miles? Can I also extend the time duarion along with it to maybe 9 years? I'd definitely do this if this was an option and covered the Airmatic suspension. This is about the only way I'd keep my E550 after 100K miles because of the counter balance shaft issue. But if it does not cover Airmatic, I would not bother getting it.

That's great news. What about the other part of my question? Anyone know if I have the 7 year 100K CPO warranty if the mileage and time duration of that warranty can be extended? Any idea about the cost of the extension?

And according to the fine print, it still covers "ADS II if so equipped" (meaning Airmatic.)

The New 135K Extended Limited Warranty
Published Tuesday, March 8, 2011 6:00 am
Mercedes-Benz has increased the mileage coverage of the MBCPO ELWs to 1 year/120,000 miles and 2 years/135,000 miles.
As a pioneer in pre-owned vehicle programs, Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) has introduced an enhanced extended limited warranty (ELW) for its Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles. Effective February 2011, the Mercedes-Benz CPO ELW has additional mileage coverage for both the one and two year warranty packages: The one year will cover up to 120,000 miles (up from 100,000) and the two-year will cover up to 135,000 miles (up from 100,000).
“With each Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz comes peace of mind, because each vehicle is backed by one of the most comprehensive pre-owned vehicle limited warranties available,” stated Scott Penza, department manager, pre-owned operations, MBUSA. “A Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz is much more than a ‘used’ car; it’s a pre-owned vehicle built by a company famous for its engineering technology and commitment to safety, quality and reliability.”
Every Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz comes with a one year CPO warranty which covers the vehicle for one-year and up to 100,000 total vehicle accumulated miles. The MB CPO warranty begins after the Mercedes-Benz four-year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty expires by time or mileage, whichever comes first. The MBCPO Extended Limited Warranty begins after the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty expires. At this point, the new CPO ELW provides vehicle coverage for another 12 months or up to 120,000 total vehicle accumulated miles or 24 months, or up to 135,000 total vehicle accumulated miles. For those Mercedes-Benz CPO vehicles that are no longer covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, the Mercedes-Benz CPO Limited Warranty takes effect at the time of delivery. This coverage extends to the engine and power train, steering, suspension, brakes (excluding wear of discs and pads), electrical system, climate control system and navigation.
Currently, more than 70 percent of the Mercedes vehicles sold since 1954 are still on the road.
While the typical MBCPO model is a two to three year-old vehicle, cars up to six model-years old with up to 75,000 total vehicle accumulated miles are eligible. To qualify for Pre-Owned Certification, a Mercedes-Benz vehicle must meet stringent criteria and pass a rigorous inspection process which includes bumper to bumper inspection of the appearance and mechanics of the car.

I do wonder if I can return my unused CPO extention and repurchase the additional year. I reads in my contract that I can get a refund on unused portion. I will have to call on this one.

Thanks so much! Good information to know. Really too bad though that the time duration is still limited to 7 years from the initial inservice date. This would not make much of a difference for me as with my driving profile I am likely to run out of time before the mielage. This would have made a difference for me if it was 9 or 10 years from the in service date with the 135K miles.
MBUSA has never gone beyond the 7 year limit as far as I know. With this new extension, it's still 7 years max. But instead of 7/100 max it's now 7/135. Check with your local dealership for pricing.
And according to the fine print, it still covers "ADS II if so equipped" (meaning Airmatic.)

Dang. I just missed out. My 2006 has 79k miles. I'm currently covered through a CPO warranty until 100k mi or March 2013.
With only 20k miles of warranty left, I probably will only get me another 1.5 years of warranty.
I'd like to drive the car for 2-3 more years, but don't want to pay for a busted airmatic.

My memory is fuzzy, but I think the 3 additional years of warranty coverage cost about $2500.
