Need help with changing front airmatic strut

I am needing some advice from anyone that has changed their own airmatic front strut. I have a 2004 e500 left strut sprung a leak so I ordered the remanfactured one from Arnott and managed to remove the bad strut, however the new strut comes pressurized/extended so I can not fit it in, I did read the DIY from Yachtmaster and followed his instructions to collapse the strut to fit it in. I plugged the upper electrical connection in and had the car jacked up then started the car but it did not release any air at all for me to compress it shorter, I even connected the lower connections with the upper connections a still no air release. Please help my car is currently on jack stands.

Lol, I couldn't offer any advice on this one, sorry...but I was watching to see how you resolved the issue out of curiousity.

So...how did you do it?
