Hi,

So when the A/C is off, no music and the engine is hot there is a slight thumbing sound coming from the back of the engine it can only be heard when is at a standstill. Now I think that I'm getting paranoid it's not loud however its having me worried as I used to have an Audi A8 which made similar noise and it was a (drive chain slack)$$$$$!

Any ideas to what it may be or is it just normal engine sound ?

 

If it can only be heard if reallly listening to it at dead silence, more than surely it is just the exhaust note. I have also come to notice that our V6 engines are also not the quietest engine when at idle listening from the outside. It always sounds like something is clicking inside the engine. Some one here have mention that the MB V6 engine are noisy, but the v8 is smooth and quiet as any v8 can be.

 

Can you please point the exact point where you put felt tape. As I m getting the same issue
