08 E550 - brakes?

08 E550 - brakes?
My car has about 38,500 miles on it. My detailer said my rear rotors look shot because of the grooves in them because I've waited too long to replace my pads. This will require new rotors according to him. My front rotors are smooth.
I have read the forums here and I guess every other pad change = new rotors, but I'm still on my first set of pads.
My SA told me the notice will show up on the dash when the sensors detect that the pads need to be replaced.
Does that sound right that I'm going to need new rotors and is it possible the sensors are not working?

Usually only the front pads are made with sensors, does this car have rear sensors to begin with?
This guy told me last night you can't cut MB rotors.. I'd definitely order a pair of after market rotors with cross drilled or slots to match the fronts if I needed to replace them.
Or use it as a good time to track down the upgraded brakes from the AMG's.

Thanks for the advice MB4tronic .. I had no idea ... I assumed both front and rears have sensors. I'll take the car to the dealer and show them. I'll definitely be putting cross drilled or slots in the rears if possible.
