Question Things to get inspected/checked on 03 E500?

Taking my 2003 E500 to the garage this Friday. I'm already having them check the transmission (it feels like it has the Valeo radiator problem).

Anything else I should make sure they check while they're in there?

Depends on the number of miles.

The motor mounts (2 motor mounts, 1 tranny mount) usually need to be replaced at 80/160k miles, along with a couple suspension related parts (i forget what they are called, but probably the bushings).. Also at about 80/90k(160k/190k) you may need to replace your valve cover gasket, along with plugs and wires.

I would have them replace the tranny fluid too, if its been awhile... I'm sure somebody else can come through with exact info for you.

Check upper and lower control arm bushings and ball joints for excessive play. Have the airmatic suspension system inspected (including each of the 4 air struts, compressor, lines, and control module) for leaks and proper operation. Go ahead and do a transmission fluid flush and refill, and have the old trans fluid checked for glycol contamination. Some 03s and 04s had a problem with the radiator leaking coolant into the trans fluid. Check to make sure the transmission shifts smoothly with no unusual hesitation when engaging into drive or reverse. Check for vibration or noise in park at idle (especially cold), this could indicate worn motor mounts.

Got it back yesterday... $3,500 worth of repairs to the transmission, transmission cooler, and the front axle mounts.

Runs like new now though!
