2005 E320 4Matic whining

Hello All...
I have a '05 E320 4Matic. I have changed the upper idler pulley and the belt tensioner pulley. I am still getting a whining noise with the vehicle. I have been told that this could be the AC pulley. Any insight here would be greatly appreciated... The vehicle has apporximately 114K miles.

Thanks in advance, Jake

I have an 04 with 68,000 miles. The A/C pulley DOES whine on occasion, it sounds like a power steering pump that is low on fluid. It does NOT do it all the time though and it has NEVER done it when it was at the dealer. Sometimes it is really loud, and it miraculously goes away when I hit the O button and turn off the A/C. I am still under warranty until the end of August; I’m going to videotape it when it starts doing it this summer and have the dealer change it under warranty. Other than that the engine and transmission have been totally uneventful and 100% reliable.

I’m sorry this does not help, but you can research this in the forum and you should find a post about it. It also affected the E500.

Steve
