So I've found that I can smell diesel fumes when I first start my car and then reverse into the exhaust gasses.
Lately, I've determined that if I floor the car at speed, I see some smoke out of the back. I never noticed, until it was night and car headlights behind me illuminated it.
Is this normal? I have the hardcore DPF filter, but no urea injection. If seeing diesel smoke isn't normal, would my KD-box be the culprit?
I honestly don't care if I'm spewing smoke, but I thought the DPF on my car made it even cleaner than a regular gasoline car..

There are those that say that with the Bluetec you do not have the "black" exhaust or smell any diesel. My take on this is that every vehicle on the road today will have some fuel smell, be it diesel or gasoline. As for the smoke when you floor it at night time, again, every vehicle made will show either carbon or fuel out of the exhaust under heavy acceleration. I had a BMW motorcycle that automatically enriched the fuel under heavy acceleration, which produced some smoke. With my cdi, I do notice the cloud of smoke more at night than during the day (when I step on it).

Seems pretty likely the KD box is the culprit.
How else would you produce more power except to burn more fuel?

It can be the sooth blown of from inside. My car does same if I drive it gently for couple of days and when I floor it will puff and will be OK, if I floor it again that day nothing comes out. Kd-box only changes the rail pressure, does not alter injectors spray rate. You are getting better fuel homogenization.
