2007 E350 4Matic Xenon Headlamp

I own a 2007 E350 4Matic (64500km) with Bi-xenon (SA code: 615 and Canadian model) headlamps. Normally, the headlamps normalize themselves (vertically) and then point in the correct level. However, more often than not, the driver's (left) headlamp may attempt to normalize itself, then falls down to the most possible down position (lighting up the ground). Occasionally, I could see the headlamp vertical adjustment try to move as the headlamps are turned on.

Scanning for diagnostic fault codes, none are present relating to the lighting (no fault codes in either one of the front SAM's) in any control module. I have swapped the headlamp control modules from left side to right side with no change.

Is this likely to be a mechanical fault inside the headlamp assembly? If so, does anyone have experience repairing this fault (as opposed to replacing the assembly)?

Any suggestions and advice to this matter would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,
Winf
