check engine code p0012

i have a 2006 e350 with 88,000 miles on it.

i turned on the car yesterday and the check engine light came on.
i used a ob2 scanner i received code p0012 [P0012 - Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Retarded ] i went and erased the code. im waiting to see if it comes back on, but in the meantime im looking for info because a crankshaft code came up in my pathfinder [ a while ago ] and made that car unable to turn on and i was stuck.

i did a search on this web site and only found results for the c-class. i have no idea where this sensor is located ?

that code is not set from a faulty sensor. the engine control unit noticed that the camshaft was not in the correct location. p0012 right (passenger) intake camshaft. Try swapping the solenoid on the front of the cylider head with another one and see if the problem moves with the solenoid. Solenoid has three bolts holding it on the front of the head with a two wire connector on it. the engine has a total of four - one for each camshaft.
