1998 E430 Sport and 2003 E500
E500 Gone - Flat Badge or Wheels Anyone?
Fed Up! Done! Disgusted! I haven't posted much at the forums, but I have read a LOT, and I have to say THANK YOU and I really appreciate all of the very wise advice and input from all of the other MB owners and senior members.
"Believe What You Read...Sometimes..." Against the better judgement of fellow MB owners, 10 months ago I purchased a beautiful 2003 E500 with approx. 60K miles. We already owned a '98 E430 Sport and loved the car.
This week I traded that E500 off at just under 80K miles. Now the proud owner of a late model SUV (loaded Jeep GC). We will drive the '98 into the ground as it is mechanically great -- but showing the W210 rust.
Prior to my ownership, WHO KNOWS what issues there were. I got off easy and cut the cord before things blew up. At 64K, failed crank sensor and embarrassing (dangerous) stall in a parking lot - MB replaced. At 65K, failed cat. converter and MB replaced right side exhaust - MB replaced. At 72K, airmatic wire failure and leaky line (I got off easy with a warning at $300). At 77K, failed lower DS ball joint, both torsion/torque arms. Since winter 2010/2011, low howl out of the rear diff under hard acceleration (impending rear end failure?). Recently, noticeable shudder in the tranny between 1500 and 2K rpm -- to my horror, discovered the Valeo radiator issue, and a Valeo in my car (impending trans/convertor failure?).
I was so proud of this car and I loved the power, drive, handling, style, luxury, top-speed, compliments, and the bells and whistles. I am now running as fast as I can from MB and will never own another once the E430 is gone. It's sad and maddening. I simply won't give MB any more of our money.
That said, I have a 3-month old White Star Flat Badge from DFWDude. I will part with it for a reasonable offer - my wife doesn't want it on our 430. Any takers?
I also have a full set of 4 original MB wheels off my 2003 E500 that are in EXCELLENT condition, and have fresh NITTO SN2 Winter Tires on them (1 winters driving - they are in fabulous shape) I also have a full set of lugs for these rims and the tires are nitrogen filled.
