remote running out of battery

I think my remote is running out of battery. I have keyless go so I almost never use the key in the ignition.

The other day, I tried it open the trunk remotely by pressing the button but it didn't work. I pressed the button to unlock the doors but that didn't work either.

When I walked up to the car and pulled the handle, the door unlocked just fine and I was able to enter the car, push the button to start the ignition, and drive home.

Will the battery in the remote recharge if I use the key in the ignition? If so, I'm guessing that I should drive with the key in the ignition periodically (like once a month or whatever).

Rock.

hold it down . press and hold. the batteries are not charged. the center console display will give you notification of a low battery situation.

hmmm...

i don't get a "replace key" message.

i may have drained it by playing around with things like holding the unlock button for along time to see if the windows roll down from the outside, etc.

i'll just live with it. nav replacement car will be here in a couple of months anyway...
