thanks to all for the great input and pics regarding: lights/aftermarket. I have just ordered pairs of what was suggested and hopefully will have all by weeks end.
question: has anyone noticed that the H7 is also available in 70w and 100w? I ordered the 55w as the manual states but wonder if someone out there has an opinion on the higher wattage bulbs for the high beams.

installed all 3 pair of bulbs yesterday. took 30 to 40 minutes at a nice slow pace. very easy!! put in the 70w H7 high beams instead of the 55w. all looks great - bright white and no problems!

Will the H7 70W bulbs disqualify the warranty? Also, where did you purchase and how much? I ordered the PIAAs for the parking lights, but haven't purchased High Beams yet.
Can't wait to get it.
Thanks

got the Metal White H7(High Beams) and H11(Fog Lights) bulbs from 'www.lightingresearch.com'. their shipping was really fast!! warranty - don't know, but no fuses are blowing and I get no error message on the display!! Remember, I put the 70w in not the 100w, which I think could cause problems.

The fog lights are H11 from www.D2technik.com, 626-282-2727 and those match very well!

Hi guys,
I have 03 CLK320 and looking for Whiter/bluer replacement for the Parking/City light. When i read the manual of the Parking light part no. is W5W. Will PIAA 169 fit on it?

To all lights expert
I am kinda late in the game on this.
Bare with me. I had installed Silverstars H7s for my high beam and have been happy with the results. Am looking into upgrading my low beam since I don't have the Bi-xenon light fixtures on my '03 e500. Therefore the low beam looks kinda yellow.
Is this possible ? Can I just pop the bulb out for the low beam fixture and install another set of H7s? If so, how do you do it?
Thanks to all in advance

Gearhead,
The low beam replacement is the same as the high beam. Both are H7 bulbs. The low beam is just as difficult to get your hands on but you can replace them in only a couple of minutes.

Howdy Jim
Thanks ... for looking into this.
I was looking into the unit but don't see how I can remove the back cover to get to the bulb. It appears there is some form of rubber cover behind the low beam housing. Is this removable? If so, do you know how to get to it?
I guess that needs to come out before I can remove the bulb
Thx again

Gearhead,
Yes, the rubber cover on the back of the headlight assembly must be removed. The cover rotates about one quarter turn, clockwise when standing in front of the car, and then can be removed.

Some MBs & Bimmers
Hi Jim
Thanks for the direction. Will attempt to change out the bulbs this weekend
Another note, according to some, the BiXenon lights that come along with the factory packages only give out 4300K. The Sylvania silverstars supposedly emit 4000K.
Based upon the heat differences, it appears that the factory Xenons may not be a good deal. I have been contemplating going after MB OEM xenon lights to retrofit into my E500
Any thoughts on this?

I have just bought a pair of H7 and H11 from lightingresearch.com. They are $46 per pair and emit at 4200k.
Stupidly, I don't get my E320 CDI until March 1st. So I can't comment on how they look just yet!

Hi all,
I'm wondering if it is possible to upgrade the W209 (non AMG) Bi Xenon head light low beam bulb to 10k or above, which bulb gives the best performance and apperance?
also which bulb is best for park light/HIGH BEAM/fog light?
I have go thru the topic and the H11 (is it from piaa or other) for fog light and piaa 169 for park light and piaa H7 for high beam, does all this apply to W209 also?
thanks in advance
Cheers

PIAA
I just finish installing the H& XDtreme White from PIAA for low beams and the 9006 Extreme White from PIAA for fog lights. Closest I've seen to xenon and perfect match. Much brighter and bluer than W209 originals.

Can someone explain how to change out the running light? (the one below the highbeam bulb in the small oval shaped light next to the low beam assembly)
I figured out the fog lights in about 5 minutes. The running light has me scratching my head. Do you do it from above with the hood open or below the car?

Just do it from above. it's even easier than the fogs. 2minutes per side max!
