New Member intro/questions
Hey all, new member to the forum but now a second time benz owner. First one was a 1999 ML430 some years ago that was great, until the gas prices got as high as they did back in 2007/8 at which point I was forced to give it up. Between then and now, I have gone through 7 other cars, and have just now finally returned to MBZ wth my most recent purchase, a 2006 E500 4matic. Going to be putting a 3rd party warranty on it but I'm not worried about the third party part because I've got two mercedes master techs that I go to for all my mechanic work that deal with the warrantiers on a daily basis.
I likely won't be doing much to modify this car honestly, I really like it just the way it is. It may get some styling touches here and there but not much else.
I'm going to be searching, but if anyone knows of specific defects on the 2006 model year e500 4matics please post it here. Once I purchase it I plan on bringing it to a local dealer to pull the service records and such and make sure the recalls/TSB's have been done. I have already written down the SBC ground/bracket harness recall and pilot bushing/battery controller/nav DVD TSB's to explore further.
In just lurking for the less than 2 hours I've been a member I like a lot of the information I see on this site. It's good to see people who aren't afraid to DIY on these cars because like anyone else, I like saving money too.
Look forward to learning and contributing some of my own knowledge!

VMI will confirm if transfer case was replaced if not yet replaced you may experience vibrations from power train when cornering and/or shuddering when making turns at low speeds. If TC serial # is between 115925-137342 service campaign 2007100004 allows for no cost replacement to modified version even out of warranty. If not within serial # range, mention DTB P-B-28.50/11 to justify repair under extended warranty.
