Well I hope this section will be as helpful and enjoyable as the W140 area. And I'll try to payback by shareing my leasons learned.
Any know issues I should be aware of and watch for?
How do I reset the trip odometer?
Thanks in advance

Good purchase - don't worry about mileage, my 2005 CDI has over 160K and is rock solid. The trick is not skipping any maintenance and do everything on it
Since buying it last month at 77,200, i have put 2400 miles on it and dispite several runs up to 120+mph
my mpg has not dropped below 26 mpg.My current maintence/ upgrades are oil & diff fluid change (amsoil), Mann oil, air & fuel filters, coolant system flush & fill and use of staynadyne fuel treatment.
I also had a performance tune installed by Rocketchip, works great!
Next is a trans fluid (oem or amsoil) change, brake fluid flush with new pads/ rotors, replacing the batteries and I plan on changing the egr valve and cleaning the intake runners this winter, since it has started mild part throttle surging.
Future upgrades/ mods include, bilsteins, custom exhaust and maybe new wheels.
I think i'm really gonna have fun with this car!!
This site is great too!!!
Happy motoring!!!!!
On my diff mine had a axle seal leak when I went to change it after I changed it with the 85w90 gear oil from MB it stopped leaking.
I have had mine 14 months and put 36,000 miles on it so far.
When I got it I changed all oils and filters then the brakes just so I would know where I was the dealer showed that I had a 1/3rd left on the brakes. After I got in there i found the inside front brake pads where much less so keep a eye on that.
I have always used Power Service fuel treatment in my last car and sold it with 200,000 miles with no fuel problems , something to think about.
Enjoy

The navigation is, of course, utter crap. MB programmed the mileage readout so that it is seeded with 34 mpg when you reset it. That means that the readout is wildly optimistic after a reset if you are doing city driving (where the car gets low 20's mpg). You need like 50 miles for the seed value to get averaged out by your real mileage.
Last year on a 70 mph run with AC on to MI UP I got 42 mpg on the readout (over 100 miles) and a little over than by calculation (by volume fuel added and miles driven). This year on same trip I only got 38 mpg and do not understand the drop. Same speed/route/AC/load. In short commute REAL city driving I get as low as 20 mpg. Diesels HATE running cold. I wish MB had put in a block heater in US as they did in Canada.
Funny thing about highway mileage is that what you get varies little 65 vs. 70 vs. 75 mph. By that I mean ~4 mpg over the entire 10 mph range.
I had an C4 LT1 (300 hp) a while back and the E320 CDI torque reminds me of that car. The power runs out at higher rpm, of course, and there is plenty of turbo lag from a stop, but once you get moving, it is a torque monster.
I read recently that MB has a 2 L 4-cyl turbo diesel that puts out more hp and torque than the 6 that we have. They were putting it into a small SUV. That should be very nice.
Have fun!
