W211 USA Comand to Europe Comand
Hi! I live in sweden and i recently bought a 2007 Mercedes E 350 4 Matic W211, that was imported from the USA!
Im very pleased with the car, except i have the usual issues with the US Comand system here in europe; the navigation doesnt work, no RDS, just odd frequenzies on the radio, and so on....you know the drill!
I've been thinking of buying a european W211 europe comand head unit + the european nav dvd drive (in the trunk). There are a lot of guys selling this "kit" on ebay here in europe at a resonable price and according to them, it will work fine; plug and play!
I asked the dealership what it would cost to replace it....and the wanted a fortune for it!
So my question is; is this really going to work fine, just plug and play? If i buy both the W211 europe head unit, and the europe dvd drive with europe nav disc?
Or do i also have to replace other things in the car like cables, navigation antenna, etc.?

simple answer.......yes everything is plug n play...I don't think you need to change the drive in the back but i might be wrong. I know the front unit is plug n play for sure. If you need a euro unit, I have one

Thank you for replying, that sounds great! Is it easy to unistall the old one and out in the new one? Do you know if there's an instruction video or something like that available? Thanks

Are you still interested. You dont even need a Euro head unit. If you enter 537 and get the menu up then change model to w211ECE (see separate posts) then turn off ignition for 3 minutes . Turn on and insert a European dvd into nav unit in trunk and it will update and navigation works! I just did it to my 2005 US w211 imported to Switzerland. Annoying as I had purchased a euro unit and only tried this assuming it wouldn't work!
Of course you will only have cd not dvd as on euro unit but it saves the cost of a euro unit.
