Exclamation leaking gas unit recall on w211 2005

I have a e320 2005 and like to know if the recall 2008-020001 covers my model.
Is the problem with the leaking gas sending unit the same issue or does it just need to to be replaced from age .I have almost 60,000 miles on it.

Thanks

There actually is a recall for the sending units. To the OP, pm me and I'll send you a copy. The recall was specific to the E55 W211s but the issue has cropped up in lots of W211s. You can show the recall to your SA and argue that this issue is happening to other cars (do a Google search and you'll find plenty of complaints; just type in "mercedes fuel sender leak.")

A lot of folks are getting some goodwill from their dealers. Be persistent, after all you have nothing to lose and the repair costs are pretty high. It was a bad design and MBUSA is slowly fessing up to it.
