Defogger blasts you with hot air
I have a 2006 E320 cdi. When I want to run the front (windshield) defogger, as on a humid summer day when it is raining, I am blasted with hot air. The air from the outlets under the windshield is what you would want on a cold winter day to defrost the winshield, not just to defog.
In every other car I have ever owned the defog function causes dry air to be blown over the inner windshield glass to remove mositure.
Is there something I am missing or is this blast of hot air just what you are stuck with with the E320 if you want to defog.
It seems really stupid of MB to have designed the HVAC this way...or is there a workaround?

Its the design of the MB HVAC system. In order to "defog" the windshield, you have to manually set the output to windshield.. Using the DEFROST button will always put on HIGH HEAT and HIGH FAN. BTW, when in AUTO mode, you will always get a small amount of air through windshield outlets. I never really have a problem unless there are 3 or 4 people in car, then I have to manually set the output to windshield for awhile.

Hmmm
So, you are saying I have to turn the AC on and use the round button that directs air flow to just the upper air vents?
Cranky!

10 degrees lower than that or more temporarily to compensate for the heated air the car is throwing at the windshield. When you leave degroster mode readjust the temp to a more normal temp for you. (Here in FL, my tepms are rarely set for less than 73 UNLESS I hit the DEF button..)
