Performance Air Filters

I have w211 E500 and am looking to squeeze out some extra hp. I am looking at adding a performance air filter. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

Here's the correct advice: the notion that a fresh OE air filter in ANY WAY strangles your motor is ludicrous.

EVERY Mercedes comes from factory with cold air intake.

Therefore, there is no such thing as a performance air filter for your car.

I don't have experience with this company but look this up (only $69) but do some research before you jump in.

Ya I was looking @ them yesterday actually. They claim 60hp gains which is obviously horse s****. If a chip gave me an extra 25-30hp i would be impressed. Powerchip group promisses 30hp and is backed up by customers but their chips run $850. I am always skeptical of inexpensive ECU chips. It seems as if they are selling universal chips. Powerchip group emailed me the actual dyno tuning sheet for my exact car and engine, stock vs chipped. I was expecting powerchip group to reduce the price when the w212 came out but they havent. Thanks for the help!

just get a couple of drop in K&N filters. I def noticed a difference. Several guys with E55s have done dynos to show an increase of 5-7hp with K&Ns

Do you think they have a bigger effect with forced induction only? ive seen some legit setups with supercharged engines. not so many naturally aspirated

I put some K&N air filters in my E550 & noticed a little power & better response over the stock paper filters. It makes me feel better knowing I have performance air filters in there.

What happen to the oil of the k&n filters causing the sensor to go bad because of the oil from the filter itself. I think it was the map sensor.

Its actually the MAF sensor gets buggered up because of the oil.

K&N has some pretty big advertising on their website saying that the filter oil has never harmed any manifold pressure or air mass sensors.

I installed them on my Bluetec E320 without any issue. Just make sure you use Xentry-DAS to reset the engine air filter adaptation values in the engine ECU after you change or renew it. The menu sequence is in WIS.
