Question E320 Vs C320

hi, can anyone tell me why there is a 10k gap between the E320 and C320?

My dad was thinking about buying one... then asked me "well its the same engine as the C320 right" and i say "ya" so he says "why does it cost so much more?"

i didnt know how to answer him

i know that the E320 is a bit longer, more room in the interior, more luxurous interior. and rides more smoother than the C

by the way, dont talk about how the E comes with extra options. im talkin about the cars in a stripped fashion.

thanks!

you buy the style and comfort ...

3200 cc engine does not mean anything. (Chrysler Crossfire uses the same engine)

320 cc orange juice is different from 320 cc apple juice. (both are fruit juice and same weight but taste differently.)

If you don't need the extra room and added elegance of the E Class, the C320 is a very good buy. The E320 does have the same 3.2 engine but with 6 more HP probably due to a larger exhaust system. The ride and road noise are excellent in the C 320 although the seats are nowhere near as good. Performance is about the same in both models with similar fuel economy. Crash worthiness reports put them both at the very top of the ratings.
As to the $10 K difference, you could ask the same question as to why an S Class costs so much more than the E. If you are merely looking for function, buy the
C320. If you want the additional size and elegance with features both tangible and intangible move up to the E or S.

The simple reason that there is a ten-thousand dollar difference in base price is marketing. Marketing cars in a variety of sizes and pricepoints is the name of the game.

The more complex answer is size, equipment and mechanical sophistication. Some examples:

Suspension: C-class uses a McPherson strut and E-class uses a S-class based "three-link" set-up. E-class has an aluminum rear subframe.

Appointments: With options the E-class can become a posh luxo boat with all the bells and whistles. Bells and whistles are limited and of lesser quality on C-class. Harmon-kardon(E) and Bose(C). Full leather (C) and Nappa leather (E) and on...

Space: The back seat of the C-class is kind of tight. The E-class give the rear seat passengers more room.

I hope this cleared it up a bit.
