Resetting all Addt'l Work in Service Menu

Rather than pay $500+ for a "D" service, on my 2008 E350, I just let the dealer change the oil/filer and cabin filters.

Of course, they did not reset my service reminder.

So, I went in an reset it myself, also resetting all the "Additional Work" items, too.

I'm assuming that won't be a problem. it was the only way I could clear the reminders.

Service "D" is twice as long as service B. So besides the filters and oil you were probably due for brakes flush. Probably to early for plugs and fuel filter. Mileage and previous maintenance would be more informative than just year and model. Transmission flush at 39K?
And btw there is a way to clear the reminders for only the services performed

How do you clear the reminders?

Maxi13, can you take the time to explain how to do this.

Here is the list of services by number

Here is the instructions how to reset FSS http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w211...roceedure.html

Don't go with Complete Service but instead use Special Work

Yes D = about 2X B. But, brake flush is extra work and not included in the service D raping. It's just extra BS work (make sure brakes work, doors, lights, cables, etc.) that I don't care to pay them $100+/hr to "perform". If anything does fail, it is warranty covered.

Brake flush is done every 2 years. Had that done, when I re-tired at 40K in the early spring. Way too early for plugs and FF.

I keep up on all the maintenance stuff. I just refuse to pay them $500 for a "glorified oil change". I have the extended factory warranty going to 7/75 and currently there is just short of 50K on it now. All the other "checks and services" are really nothing more than a revenue generating process and NOT required to maintain warranty support.

So, when the service is up (A, B, C, D, etc.) - I read the maintenance book and only have them do what is required. That almost always cuts cost of the service by 50-75%. And, IMHO is not eliminating anything... other than dealer profit.

I was mainly concerned with correctly resetting the "wallet-emptying" reminder notice. I don't want that popping up every time I start the car. It did not go away with complete service reset. I had to reset all the additional work items... rather than figure out what was due, I just reset every one.

No problems with doing that, are there?

Whatever pleases you
But before resetting everything would be nice to read what services FSS thinks are due
