Headlight Update Question
Hey guys so i searched both this forum and benzworld forum, couldnt find anything. But i have xenon pre facelift headlights on my e500. Just bought my updated headlights and they are halogens. Someone who i consider really knowledgeable with w211s said that you could do the conversion no problem. But when i was looking at the internals of the halogens and comparing them to the xenon ones, they seem really different. What would i have to do to switch them?

i was debating purchasing oem or after market face lift headlights and because i wanted to go xenon i opted for the after market that are plug n play because i heard that there was some wiring and harness changes that had to be done to make the face lift headlights work...
so i dont think they are plug n play...
maybe some pics to see the differences?

If you have a xenon car you need to aquire OEM 07+ xenon headlamps. There are gyros and motors in the housings for the leveling and vertical movements of the lenses.

check this post ... https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...onversion.html If you have factory Xenon before, you just need to leave the xenon plug unplugged, (one plug) put some black tape around to prevent water/dust in the plug, your computer is ready for xenon but you don't have to worry about it, the problem is if you go halogen to xenon (in this case you need star diagnostic to recognize xenon), lights should work OK in your case.

Why on earth would the op consider "facelift" more important that xenon's ? Halogens suck.

Sorry for not making clear enough. I WANT to keep Xenon AND get facelift look. Someone told me that it would be cheaper to buy the halogen xenons and they would be simple plug n play. So i could keep my xenons from my preface, and install them in the halogen headlights. get it? or am i explaining it weird

Get a heat gun and pop open the both headlights(is not as bad as it sounds)
There is like 4 clips around the headlight lens
The big chrome cover is held in place by a T20 screw(that screw is where the glue/sealing area is, you have to look for it) take that out including the projector chrome ring, install those parts in to your original bi-xenon headlight, use some silicon to seal it back up and you are done.
No need to mess with the wires.
