2007 E550 4Matic 40K mile service

So I am approaching my 40K mile service and the dealer is quoting about $600-$700 for this and I think there are a bunch of useless things in that quote. What I am considering doing is having the dealer change the oil and filter (just received a nice coupon from the local MB dealer for this!). The local dealer has been so far very good at inspecting the car in general to find warranty work in the car so I think they'd do an inspection anyway so they can find any warranty claims they can make...

I have a highly recommended/regarded MB indy near me and I'm planning on having him do the brake and transmission fluids flushed. Since it is a 4Matic, does anything else need to be flushed? Does anything need to be lubed? My pano roof was lubed last year to fix a creaking/cracking sound.

Other than this should anything else be done as a part of this 40K mile service? I guess the car has somewhat lower miles than usual if that matters for anything... Thanks so much for any advice!

tranny flush and differential oil done as well. Rest are more inspections for wear of brakes, etc. As long as its got fresh oil/fluids, you are good to go.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. That's what I thought...

Is the differential oil a "change" or a "flush?"

I've barely put 6K miles sine the last full service so everything should be in more or less good condition. I'll have them check the fluids and I'm sure they will check the brakes anyway as that's an area where they can make some money

So overall this is what I plan to have done for the 40K mile service

:::: At the dealer with the coupon I received
+ Oil change and filter
+ Fix what I think is a gas smell leaking into the cabin
+ Ask them to check for any additional warranty work

:::: At the Indy shop
+ Transmission fluid flush
+ Brake fluid flush
+ Differential oil flush (4MATIC)
+ Rotate tires and check brakes
+ Check tire pressure
+ Check and top off fluids

Anything else I might have missed? Shall I have the Indy do the cabin air filter also? How often should the pano roof be lubed/ That creaking noise was driving me crazy so I want to maintain the pano roof to avoid that coming back...

Diff i believe is drain and fill. cabin filter takes but 2min to change. So you can do it yourself. Air filters take maybe 20min tops to remove the screws and replace with new filters.

As far as the gas smell, its your fuel sending unit, thats underneath the rear seats. I my DS fuel unit replaced for $900.

Do I need to be concerned with Power Steering flush and service also, in addition to the items listed above? I see this item listed under the B and G service schedule at the dealer.

They are also talking about the following as a part of the 40K mile B/G service. Should I have them done as a part of my 40K mile service, perhaps at the Indy shop?

+ Fuel Injection Service (??)
+ EGR Service (??)
+ Transfer Case (??) -- Is this apart from the differential service?

One last question is they are talking about a AC ventilation system service. I have heard of forum members having this done for free as a warranty item by complaining about an odor from the AC system. Is this covered under warranty should there be an odor in the Ac system?

Thanks so much!

For a 4-matic you need front and rear diff and transfer case fluid change

I believe it's every 40k, not 20k.
