The oval detent for the logo was filled in prior to painting, along with a long number that was embossed on the right side.

vdimemmo,
did you replace the front bumper and side skirts? can you post pics of the side? i'm interested in the a sportier rear bumper and was wondering if it would match the car w/o alot of other mods except for new exhaust.

Thanks for asking.

Driving home with the aircon and windows closed, my impression is the sound improved subtly. It is expected that the sound will improve as the car is driven more.

It sounded sportier than stock, but still quiet compared to aftermarket units.

What I am really happy about is that the car did not lose low end torque unlike my C320 when I installed the C32 exhaust. Also, installation was straight-forward. After some measurements were made, they cut off the OEM mufflers and slipped on the new ones (no welding)! AMG Performance did a very clean and professional job! The correct part number required for this conversion is B6-6-03-6142.

Perhaps Vdimemmo can elaborate more with his experience.

Well, I TOO have caught the upgrade bug. I wonder if I change out the exhaust.. perhaps to a nice pair (whatever brand).. but with TURN DOWN tips (even stainless steel) so I can keep the stock bumper.. I'd get the sound, and some performance.. without having to change the bumper now. Is this feasible? I'm afraid of bottoming out the exhausts if I hang it lower than the bumper like EPowers setup.

In 4 years, I'll be getting another car anyways... don't think I want to dump more $$ into a body kit.

The performance change is not significant enough to warrant new mufflers themselves. Unless your doing it for the looks, I wouldn't spend the money on something that wasn't noticable (ie, turn-down mufflers and the existing bumper).

The AMG bumper kit is $780 which isn't that expensive and is used with the E500 sport body pieces in Europe.

Also, several folks have told me the stock bumper can be cut to accomodate the AMG mufflers. As a matter of fact, a template is provided when you buy the AMG mufflers.

Yes, there is. It's included with the clamps and a booklet altogether with the 2 twin-oval tipped mufflers (Part #B6-6-03-6142).

I forgot to mention about that.

Can you post a picture of that template? does it include a diagram for the AMG exahust with the dual single like mine to extend it to take the quad?

Muhri, will have to look for it first. May have left it at AMG Performance since we didn't need it in the first place having the right AMG bumper on the car already.

Will post it for you when I find it.

Thanks Beng, got them. Can't figure out which one is for the AMG muffler with one tip each and which one is for the stock bumper though!

Muhri, I believe both these templates are for the twin oval tipped mufflers as they came with them (Part #B6-6-03-6142).

After comparing the templates against my rear bumper, the one with the tapered/pointed ends are exactly like the cut-outs on the car.

I don't really know what the other template is for, but my guess would be to convert AMG bumper for the single tipped muffler to accomodate the twin tipped version.

The openings on both templates are too big for the single tipped muffler.

Guys, I was wondering if anyone had done the "cutout" via the template in the AMG Muffler set using the STOCK bumper. It seems the stock bumper is not "tapered" like the E55 part. I don't know. Just wondering if anyone had done it.

Also, is the "black cover" part INCLUDED with the muffler set.. OR is that a separate part?

FYI: I saw a NEW E55 on the lot at the new Sugarland MB dealer this AM. Brand NEW (not pre-owned). Tectite/Charcoal. Only optional equip is the CD changer. $78k.

Maybe they'll take my NAV E500 in trade even up =)?Not!

No, the black trim piece does not come with the mufflers. It comes with the AMG rear bumper. The part number is #6-6-03-6147.

Peter, got your message. Sorry, I do not have the photos of the templates anymore. I deleted them already. Please try to contact Muhri who may still have them in file.
