Changes in Tourist Delivery Program

I just placed my tourist delivery order for a 2004 E320. The earliest delivery is October which I think will also be true for US Domestic deliveries on the E Class. It turns out that they have made some changes to the tourist program, namely:
1. There will be a 5% discount off MSRP on 04 C,E,SLK and CLK Coupes
2. Free hotels will be reduced to one night rather than two.
Apparently other things remain the same.

You mean European delivery, correct? If so, interesting...My family was looking into European delivery about a month ago for a new E-Class. We went to the dealer, they stated that there was no discount at all off the price of the car and that the only discount saved would be the ~$750 destination charge. You would have to pay for your airfare, hotels, etc. Im assuming you just did this recently, please let me know.

Its a far cry from Volvo (which my parents just did European Delivery with) which gave them a nice incentive on the sticker price, about $5K off a $37K car, plus airfare, 5 nights hotel, transportation to and from airport, and breakfast and lunch for $250 a person. So it was $500 for my parents to go to Europe for 5 nights, with food and lodging, plus a nice discount on the car.

Thanks

03 E320, sport package, moon roof, sound upgrade, brilliant silver, charcoal leather, heated seats..
Indeed. Volvo tries much harder than MB. Yet, I'm still not persuaded.

S60R? Its no MB but its still not that bad. I guess after seeing the incentives Volvo gives and then hearing what MB gives (especially with their reliability going down hill) I was not excited to go to Europe to get a MB, however, I would still choose a Mercedes over a Volvo.

It is the European Factory Delivery Program - You pick up your car at the factory in Sindelfingen which is near Stuttgart. Your dealer was correct that there was no discount but the program has just changed beginning with the 04 cars . You so get one free hotel night whereas there were two. Use the free night for a place like the Interalpen in Austria or the Bayershierhof in Munich. The Buhlerhoe near Baden Baden and the Park Hotel Adler near Freiburg are also very nice You also receive two coupons for a taxi so you can go to and from the airport. Also you get a voucher for a lunch at the factory. If you go, be sure and take the factory tour. I have picked up cars many times yet always enjoy seeing them built. As you may have been told, the price you pay includes shipping the car back to the dealer. Go for it.

Not to rag on MB (I love their cars), but they couldnt do a little bit better than one night hotel and a free lunch at the factory? Seems a little bit cheap for such a premium car company.

It looks like Volvo has to offer many incentives to sell their cars.

I wish MB would also give this new 5% on other models, too.

One which comes to my mind is the SL! That 5% would make a nice savings incentive for an SL.

Volvo in no way has to offer incentives to sell their cars, Volvos sales have been on an upward trend the past few years. They simply realize that they can offer their buyers more, at a more competitve rate then Mercedes can.

I love Mercedes, but I have to give it to Volvo they build a car thats just as good (maybe not style and features wise) for less money, and I wouldnt say that the Europe trip is a huge incentive for buying the car, its just a nice perk.

The Phis Smart information is good but it needs to be updated. e.g. You now get two taxi coupons, one free hotel night vs two, and the car model information needs updating. Even the MBUSA Web Site is out of date for the 2004 program.
