Stealership VS Independent

What is your reasoning for taking your car to the stealership VS your local independent shop or vice versa?

I see some of the bills you guys are flipping at the stealers and I am sometimes in awe. I have never and will never take a car of mine that is out of warranty to a stealer. If an independent shop advertises and claims competency in MB diagnosis and repairs I don't know why anyone would pay the premium at the stealer for the same repairs.

Let me hear it..

My car is out of warranty and i still use the dealer most of the time depending on what needs to be done. Yes, the dealer is always going to be more expensive than a independent, but there are pros for using a dealer. Its easy to make an appointment, car is always ready on time, car is cleaned and vaccumed, seem to have the parts available, and will occasionly do a freebie, have the latest equipment, familar with known problems and recalls, and i have found that they will go to bat for you on things that shouldnt happen if you have been getting the vehicle serviced there.

Some things are best left for the stealership, while other things are better suited for the independents.

I use independent for most basic needs. I use the dealer for more complex issues and when I want or need the extra service including car wash, loaner, etc.
