Help with full size spare? thread pitch on tie down?
Hey guys,
I have recently upgraded to a full size spare on my 07 e350 with sport package.
I went with an 18x8.5 AMG replica wheel since i figured the lower offset would be such that it could easily fit on the front or the back. This fits nicely in the spare tire hole and allows for the trunk panel to sit flush once the styrofoam doughnut is removed.
HOWEVER, i can no longer get the factory plastic hold down circle to thread on and hold the tire in place.
I have noticed there is a metal threaded bit in the center of the plastic hold down bolt thingy. does anyone happen to know the thread pitch so that i could drill through my existing hold down, put a flat washer, and bolt the tire down in this way?
or, is there another type of tire hold down that would work in an OEM-type manner? could anyone provide a part number if this is the case?
