'04 Nav Video

Saw this link on the E55 thread.

http://www.mercedes-benz.com/e/cars...ben/comand.html

This is the first full interactive demo I've seen of what we can expect.

It is, but I haven't figured out if that's an 04 current nav, or the original proposed '03 product.

If you go through it you can see how the tv works, and that the cd/dvd slot in the dash can allow you to watch dvd's on the screen.

It doesn't also describe if the nav directions can be seen in the info center screen, like 745's (and o the s class I think).

This was a pretty good video, thanks.

I have a feeling though that it may not be up to date or specific to US models. For example, it describes the DVD as being loaded into a slot in the trunk, and I think we are fairly sure that the DVD is going into the slot in the dashboard head unit.

It also describes the system as having TV and dynamic route guidance (traffic reports are used to get best routes). I would love it if we in the US got these options but I'm not sure we will.

Usually these tv and traffic features are disabled for U.S. bound cars, even if the same system is used in ROW, but we'll see.

It also looks like this is the system in the '04 E55 Brochure.

Actually, the Nav DVD is in the trunk and the indash slot will be used for the Video DVD Manual as well as regular DVD Videos.

Cheers!

i remember posting this site a long time ago, and then it was posted some more afterwads. i dont think it will actually look like this, functions wise, i am sure some will be the same, but i thought MB changed NAV companies, so this would be the old one, and not the new one, but i am not sure

This Navi. system reminds me of the one in the Maybach, same basic setup as this one.

Actually it looks exactly like that. There was a pic posted recently with an E55 from a test run and it had the DVD Navi along with the Satelite radio option and it was exactly like that.

Yes, I remember seeing that pic, but just keep in mind that it was a Euro. Spec. E55, not a US production car.

Doesn't this look like the unit in the e55 04 brochure for the U.S.?

Wouldn't that make this the unit for the U.S.?

Well.....we will know for sure next week when drb takes delivery of the first E-Series with the navigation installed. Hopefully, he will take his camera and laptop to the dealer so he can post the pictures and descriptions from there.

Great video. Geez, it is like pulling teeth to get information about this thing. You think that MB would be a little more prepared.

I'm about 100% sure that we won't get the TV/DVD option here in the US, but I wonder if it will be a relatively quick conversion to get it to display DVD videos as well as the Nav here in the US. Me thinks that since it is just some software changes that it may be possible. Here is to hoping you can.

I will need some guidance on picture posting. I am not sure how to get them small enough for this site to accept the upload. I have an Elph S400. Can MS Paint shrink the pics?

Mspaint won't work too well, but you could lower the rez on your camera when you shoot the pix and then just upload.

Or just have someone else do it...

Kevin,
Can you tell us a little about your car. Build date etc. I assume it is an '03 with dvd nav installed. We have not seen this in the U.S. yet, and we're dying for info. Easy to use, compicated? compare to previous comand?

How does your radio work? Scroll through presets on wheel, or not?

I'm sure others have questions also..

Thanks in advance,
David

Here some poor pictures (Sorry ) of my nav

DKSNY,
My build date is second decade of April. The nav is really easy to use and really quick. The indications or clear (depend on your map).
I have the same problem about scroll through presets on wheel and my garage said me there is no solution about it.

bmms8,

No 3d possibilities
