W211 E Class E350 Tail Light Confusion
Hi all,
I have replaced my 2007 E350 OEM Tail Lights with a pair of 2008 E350 Tail Lights.
During the install I removed the top bulb (brake light bulb) because (as I thought) it was not required since the new 2008 tail light assembly had LED leads and the existing 2007 bulb holder/plate had connections for the LED leads. I am now getting an error message of a bulb being out. I was hoping to find the correct 2008 bulb holder/plate online and would swap out and all would be right with the world again. I have done 3 days of research and called Mercedes parts to obtain the correct bulb holder/plate for the 2008 LED tail light to no avail.
Can some one tell me if the 2008 or 2007 bulb holder/plate will have the top bulb but will not be seen given that the LED's are doing the brake light duties. As understand, the bulb holder/plate will have a bulb and shine every time the brake pedal is depressed but will not be seen due to the fact that it is behind the LED assembly in the tail light.
Confusing....I know!!!
Help if you can.
Pictures would be nice of the correct 2008 bulb holder/plate for the 2008 Tail Light Assembly - (Code 954) - Advantgarde
I have attached a picture of the tail lights of a E320 (not my car) with the LED tail light. follow this link:

and a tail light E350 (similar to my car) with the older tail lights.

My bottom line question is will the NON-LED bulb holder with the brake light bulb at the top work with LED tail light assembly.
Thank you for your assistance.
