Are seatbelts universal?

I havent found anything telling me whether or not the W211 seatbelts are universal or not.

Obviously the front and rear are probably different, but my mechanic replaced the wrong seatbelt in the front and now my passenger seatbelt is still locked up, but I still have the old, working driver side seatbelt.

Would I be able to swap out my passenger side seatbelt with the old driver side seatbelt?

Thanks!!

I just changed a rear seatbelt and took apart the old one. It has a metal ball that trips a small plastic lever to lock it up and it sits at a precise angle that looks like it would be unique to each side of the car. So it appears to me that each side is different.
