Replacing catalytic converter OEM vs. MB part

I'm replacing my catalytic converter and the mechanic gave me the option of getting a OEM for $700 and one from the dealer at $1,050. Will it make a big difference regardless of the one that I put on? Which is the better option?

9 times out of 10 the dealer is the same as OEM with a Mercedes logo stamped on it which of course adds cost to the price!

On my Dad's W210, the MB OE cats came attached to new pipes, but the OEM cats were to be welded to existing/replacement pipes. Don't know if its the same case here though.
