Turning ESP off

Guys, I was wondering if anyone knew what effect turning off the ESP has. I know some cars turning off the "ESP" would still allow a "guardian angel" mode that allows significant freedom for spirited driving.. yet will pull in the reins on extreme cases. I think sometimes the traction control is defeated but the yaw sensors remain active.

Anyone know for sure? I'd let to turn it off... and power slide a few turns ;-)

MB is in this category. Unlike BMW, the traction control never really does get turned off. I sometimes view this with annoyance but once or twice it's saved me from bending sheetmetal... but for the really good drivers out there and not us amateurs, it's an annoyance.

Hitting the ESP off button reduces the amount of interference ESP causes. However, it does not totally dis engage ESP for safety reasons.
