Question Can someone explain "when vehicle is fully asleep?"

I've seen this referred to in a few posts, but was unsuccessful searching out a thorough explanation of what happens and when. How does one know when the car is asleep, and what does that mean in terms of such things as replacing batteries, etc.?

Thanks!!

By way of an over simplified explanation...

After you shut down your car and exit it (because until you do certain accessories/lights are still powered up), certain other systems are still loaded in the cars computer ready to be accessed if you restarted right then. After a few minutes they too are gone, and when you restart the car it will look for and re-load all of its systems, programs and accessories.

Its sort of like a Warm Boot VS a cold Boot on a home computer. The car will go to sleep after no more than 4 minutes. Often less than that.

For example, until the car "goes to sleep" If you have had a bluetooth phone paired while you were in your car, and came home and parked in your garage, the car will hold onto the BT connection and permit you to answer your phone from the car's COMAND in the garage even though you are now in the kitchen getting a snack carrying your phone. When the car "goes to sleep" your phone will then be independent of the car's BT connection , and you can directly answer your phone in your pocket from the kitchen.
