w211 E-class (2005) E220 Cdi classic upgrade from 16 60 205 to 17'' or 18''

This is my first thread on this forum
I have E220 Cdi 2005 classic for more than one year and I want to upgrade the look for my car so I am confused to upgrade from 16wheels
(16 60 205)to
(17 45 245) or
(18 40 245) but I heared from the dealer that more wheel size is less speed performance and fuel more 30% for 17 or 18 wheels

I saw 4 wheels of 18 inch that was for w221 (2009) original he said that it would be heavier for the car and will make a death for car acceleration but I am confused
can any one advise me ??what best for me??

Thats not true whatthe dealer told you with fuel consumption/performance
Ive upgraded my vehicles rims all the time
At the end of the day, the increased weight is insigficant

There are some 18" wheels which will weigh less than your stock 16's
In my signature i have 20s

Thank you for your advice
I am afraid because my car E220 Cdi has a small engine with few hp(150) compared with other versions that has big engines with high hp

but truly i am satisfied with its performance and fuel consumption and to be true it is economy in fuel but always when i look at it I think to upgrade the size of the wheels to have better look

I saw 17 Oem wheels for w211 E550 and w221 S500 Amg 18wheel in stock do u know weight of them

I think my 16 wheels weight 23lbs

I appreciate your reply

There's truth to what the dealer stated. Wheel weight is definitely an issue. Any increase of 5 lbs can be felt on acceleration. And going to 18" typically pushes the wheel weight up. Note the tire weight also goes up but not that much.

If you're doing a +2" on a E220 CDI, you'll likely will felt a "slower" responsiveness. I have a E320 CDI, and mounted 18" FORGED wheels, which didn't add any more weight than 16".

I'd be very care about choosing which wheels.
