Wipers
I know that a lot of threads have been posted regarding the erratic funtioning of the rain sensor for the wipers.
Does anyone get it fixed ?
Not me at least.

I hate the rain sensor feature on my 03 CLK 500. I think it's just a bad design not a "problem" with the sensor. I really hate when they go into super high-speed mode. The wipers should NEVER go into high-speed mode when using the rain sensor feature.
My girlfriend's 1998 C280 has a rain sensor system that works properly.

I have just had my THIRD new set of wipers fitted as the noise is unbearable. Now quiet again - but for how long?
Whilst the car was in for various other fixes, I has a E class rental for 5 days - and the wipers on that were even worse!!!
Regarding the speed of rain sensitive wipers- my wife's new VW Beetle has an adjustment on the wiper stalk for altering the intermittant wiper speed- PERFECT EVERY TIME.

what exactly is wrong? are they noisy, do they not clean the windshield (streaking, etc), or is the rain sensor wiping when there isn't enough water on them.
one tip: if MB is like BMW, the factory/dealer fill for windshield washer fluid is this very strong alcohol solution, you can really smell how strong it is. Get it out of your car, its eating up the rubber edge on your wiper blade, once that very fine edge of the blade wears, noise and bad wipes result. Try the regular blue stuff or RAIN-X.

I agree with you that wax generates noise from the wipers.
I also came to the conclusion that it james the sensor. Why ?
In my former CLK 430 it was running perfectly with or withour wax.
When will MB find a solution ?

bmw2mb,
Thanks for your suggestion. My 96 c-class was running perfectly w/ or w/o wax, too. One of my colleagues has 2002 s-class, and he never had this kind of problem. Isn't a 60K car suppose to run fine with these minor things? Anyways, I don't think the dealer knows how to fix. They just keep replacing it to the new one...

my tech told me that the new e wipers are the 'euro' style wipers which are also on the s, sl, and cl...maybe others.
the euro blades are also very expensive compared to the old styles. i have never had this much problems with wipers ever.

i too had this problem too...the blades wiped the water clean all over the window except around the sensor area. make sure the blade is wiping the water away from the sensor area.
you can see this by spraying water on the windshield to see what it was doing. i bent the right blade down a little on the far right side. they will bend. if you bend it too much, it will not clear in the middle of the blade. after a few minor adjustments, the blade cleared the water around the sensors and worked much better.
your dealer should be able to do this too.
