Rear differential Humming noise?

Does anyone notice a faint humming noise coming from the rear when traveling highway speeds? The windows need to be closed and the radio off. I can hear a hummin noise when I let off on the gas and it goes away when I step on the gas. It sounds like it is coming from the differential.

Thanks

Yep, I've had this same problem. I posted about this several weeks ago too. The dealer agrees that this is an issue, and has replaced the rear differential once. This didn't cure the problem, and they have another differential ordered and will install it as soon as it comes in. I will post the outcome when this second differential is installed. Anyone have any other experience in fixing this problem???

I had this problem on my 02 C320. The dealer replaced the differential and the problem is gone. Have them keep changing the differential until you get a good one.

Thanks MB-JIM. Your post gives me hope that the second differential will fix the problem. By the way, I'd describe the sound I've got as more of a "whine" than a "humming" sound.

I sure hope they fix this stuff on the 2004s.
