Rear parking sensor removal

I've been searching for weeks but can't find a definitive guide, can somebody please help me? My rear bumper was painted by the previous owner, but one of the corner rear parking sensors has been wedged upwards by a couple mm and it's been diagnosed by star as the problem sensor. I have a replacement, but I'm not sure if it's a d.i.y. job or one best for the workshop? I'm very mechanically minded, but just a bit scared of damaging my beautiful E55.

Well there is good news and bad news-----if the VIN is before 31 5 06, remove the ram strip and use the special sensor unlocking tool 168 589 023 100-----however if the VIN is after 01 06 06----no special tool is required, however you have to remove the bumper to simply unlock the sensor.

Removing the rear bumper on that car takes a different skill level!!
