2007 E350 air filters.
A video on youtube showed the filters to be in this plastic black box in the upper left and right hand corners of the engine:

So why did Advanced auto parts sell me this filter, which is obviously much smaller than whatever's underneath that cover...
The two air flow tubes and a third tube in the middle (not sure what it does) just kinda came undone on their own, but it would have been just as easy to disconnect them beforehand.
Now my car is an 07 with 23k miles. As you can see, these filters are pretty bad. The replacement Purolators have fewer folds which means that they will trap less dirt but I change air filters once a year so Im not worried about it.
Oh, by the way how much did you pay for your engine air filter?
i paid $20.70 for the pair of airfilters. Hengst or Mann , cant recall.
to the OP, at 5yrs old you prob need to replace the in cabin filter. I paid about $20 for a carbon filter.
