cant get my 220cdi to start.

hello!

last night i took the covers of my recent buy, and found that injector 4 was leaking, so i got the injector out and replaced the cobber ring at the bottom.

then, when i was done i cant get it going. the engine turns, and it ignites, but it dies before it really gets going.

inside the car i can hear a sound, a low toned sound, that starts everytime the engine shuts down.

i did this with a few w210 220cdi without any trouble, so i cant undrstand whats wrong. seems like its something that kills it.

hope for some advice!

just for the record, i found the reason for my problem, a bad wire to the cam position sensor! then it fired right away!

Thanks for reporting that. I thought the car would eventually fire up even with a bad camshaft position sensor (if the ECU cannot find the camshaft signal, it tries with the two options the crankshaft sensor cannot resolve). Once the engine runs, it should not need the camshaft sensor.

Anyway, good that you got your car fixed.

Sorry, yes you are right, emergency operation of the engine is possible based on the camshaft sensor signal.
