Removing trunk navi computer

Removing trunk navi computer
How do I remove the trunk navigation computer in the W211 sedan? Mine is having disc read errors. It should be possible to pull it out of the holder without removing the trunk liner etc. Does it require a special tool? If so what is the part number?

Once out, is it possible to replace the DVD drive inside the navigation computer. I did this in my head unit which now reads DVDs like a champ again. What is the type of DVD drive it takes? Mine is from 2003.

Those are the correct keys you need although you can remove it with a little flat tip screwdriver. If you look on the sides of the drive where it clips into the cage near the slots those tools go into, you will see the little tabs that you can press in with the screwdriver. It will then just pull out, and you can disconnect the harnesses. Pretty simple. Can't help you on the internal drive. You can get used nav drives for these cars fairly cheap so that is an option i suppose. Good luck.
