Clever ideas wanted for stone/light interiors

What has anyone done (or thought of) to protect the door kick panels for stone/light colored interiors? I've heard people mention covering them in plastic,what kind of plastic and how would that be done to look nice?

I've thought about having thin clear acrylic peices cut to cover the area and clippping them on....

Yes I know it shows I have charc. interior but I'm considering stone for another car

Also is there a darker color beige for the floor mats ie; like the ash interiors come with?

I just sprayed ScotchGuard on the cloth and carpet, though the clear acrylic sounds like a great idea. Dirt wipes off with a wet cloth, but I decided to switch to Ash for my swap car (due to Nav).

I just put clear floor mats over the bright floor mats. I know it's kinda tacky, but IMHO, it looks better than the black MB all-weather mats (as at least you can see through the clear mats).

As to floor mats, I have always used black floor mats even when I have had a light color interior. Generally they compliment the interior. Just a thought.

I found some mats at Costco that pretty much match the color of the dash on the stone interior. Looks decent. If I've got a fancy affair to attend I'll just ditch the 2nd pair of mats.

The scuffs that I have inflicted so far on the kick panels/etc. have just wiped off (so far!)
