Upgraded Powerchip ECU program in...

Got the latest Powerchip ECU upgrade for the E500 this week. They tuned it for my K&N's and exhaust, and also, they had made some good improvement on the throttle response issue that plagues our E's. Soon as I left their parking lot I felt the improvement. Got to the stop sign, floored it and the tires lit up, until ESP kicked in. With the 275's on the rear I had to do a bit of power braking before to get this quick of a reaction. Like any of these type of mods, you can't expect an E55 type of a transformation, but it keeps getting better... Bad news is that they still do not have the top speed limiter removed. Its too bad, I have had a few runs with some quick cars, beat them up to 135, but then the E shuts down. Its a depressing feeling seeing an S4, M3, 540, or Vette go by you when you had them beat or at least kept up till then...
Also got the GTech pro this week. Have not tried it out yet. Should be fun.

Drove up to their US HQ which is in Santa Monica, basically at Wilshire and PCH. If you drive up they take out the ECU for you, program it, and then reinstall in about 40 minutes. Otherwise you can take out the ECU yourself, FEDEX it to them, get it back and reinstall yourself.

As for the HP gains, I really don't know. I did not dyno before. I just did get a GTech pro today, so I am going to figure out the HP functionality and get a reading this week. Only problem is that I didn't get a HP read prior. Maybe someone with a GTech can give their HP reading (stock) and then compare to what I get.

Epower, I will try to get a reading of my stock 500 tomorrow AM for you. I haven't made ANY changes to the car (not even K*N's yet).

Also for reference... I will use 4000lbs as the weight of the vehicle on the GTech Pro, and use kickdown to obtain my best reading. Take several runs of course.

No, it's the GTEch Pro (try gtechpro.com). I actually bought this one off EBay for like $60. The guy had a TON of them. HIGHLY recommended.

Probably works the same as the Escort one. But for $60 you can't go wrong with thisone. And it's tried and true.. very accurate.
