P-B-07.00/28a Mid to High range power hesitation Update
Hello All,
I dropped off my car today to get the P-B-07.00/28a update for my E500. I was told they did feel a hesitation and completed the update. I will pick the car up later tonight and let everyone know if it makes a difference.

i think the problem is that the hesitation from the trany takes to much time. this was a known problem, so hopefully my car has the problem, because it seems like it takes to much time

Here is my opinion. I picked up the car and noticed a little difference. I would not expect a whole second off the 0-60 time but one thing is for sure, the kick down response time is definately faster. The accelerater response between 40-60 mph is definately faster. I would definately recommend the update.

i8hotdogs-
Thanks fo the info. I'm definitely going to add this to my service list for my next visit.
One question- does this involve a reprogramming/modification to the engine, or is it the transmission? Is is just the swiftness of transmission gear kick-down, or is it something to do with the engine?
Thanks,
RAI

2003 Mercedes-Benz E500
My car isn't broken in yet, so I don't really want to floor the car to see if i have a hesitation in my E500, but is it possible to just bring it in the dealer and ask them for the update anyways?
How long does it usually take? about 3 hours?

Did they road test the car or simply go ahead because you presented the TSB info? First time around, they claimed "unable to duplicate at this time".

I first provided the service rep the TSB number, he researched the number and could not find any information. I found the actual hard copy of the TSB from someone on this forum, I forgot where, but this site is a GREAT resource. I printed it out and provided it to the same service rep. He looked a little embarassed that I had a copy of it when he told me it did not exists. I believe they did do a road test and proceeded to apply the update. The symptoms that I had was between 40-60 mph, it was very difficult to get the car to accelerate fast when I needed it too. The only way I could get it going is to press the accelerator all the way down until it hits the kick down switch.
After driving it few days, the update definately made a difference but not a HUGE difference. It does accelerate much faster now without pressing the accelerator all the way down.
I believe the update chnages the fuel-air mixture, not the transmission software.

Thanks. I'll dowload the copy as suggested.
