Itronics bluetooth kit and OEM iPod kit

When installing the Itronics you need to connect the fiber optics from the cd changer and from my understanding the iPod kit needs the same fiber optics from the cd changer? How do you connect both? Any advice when installing both will be greatly appreciated. I am a former w211 owner now a w219 same car. Except seems as the members on the w211 are more active with alot of response in comparison. Thankyou.

Hello - I'm running both items in my W211. The iTronics kit can be configured in several ways along the MOST, but probably the easiest, and the configuration in their install videos, is by inserting it inline at the CD changer connection. The CD changer will need to be removed and substituted by the iTronic (the recommended install) The factory iPod connection has nothing to do with the MOST connection of the iTronic.

The factory iPod connection uses the audio "aux" input on the back of the COMAND for the audio signal, and it uses the CAN bus for functionality such as the steering wheel controls and Speedo display.

You could in fact have them both connected at the same time - the switch back and forth is accomplished by using the input portion of the COMAND to switch between "aux" and "CD Changer", where the changer is your new iTronic.

If you have nothing else to use for the aux input, I'd use this method. I have a video player in my car, so I use the aux-in for this and have disconnected my factory iPod system.

The iTronic is worlds better than the factory system at navigating iPod songs, and you have the added benefit of displaying and using the COMAND for the functions, instead of the extremely limited phone/Dash functionality in the factory system. I have noticed, however, that you cannot access podcasts with the iTronic; if this is a primary function for you, you could either leave a separate iPod on the factory line for this, or just stream in your podcasts (assuming iPod touch/bluetooth).

Any more questions, post back anytime. Happy listening!

Are you saying switching back in forth between aux and cd changer when using an Itronics with the iPod built in? My Itronics is only bluetooth, therefore that is why I will be installing the OEM iPod connector. I wish I had the Itronics with both bluetooth and iPod built in. Thankyou I knew I could get answers here at the w211.
