Navigation Help
2008 E350
I read here on MBWorld that if you insert a new DVD this may happen and to do the following " Get a copy of Service Disk (211 589 15 22 00) and do a Service update, but it just spins and spins then it states that "NO DVD Available, Please inert Navigation DVD" Now this happens with the Nav DVD and the service DVD disk. The Navi DVD is the newest one version 2013 w/code's

> Turn on ignition.
> Ensure that there is no disc in the head unit drive.
> To start software updater press 1, 3 and 8 at the same time.
> Insert service update disc.
> After confirming the new software version the update will start automatically.
> After the update is completed turn ignition off and lock the car. Wait until instrument cluster turns off.
Good luck!

The SW update is not needed for the navi processor either if the maps DVD is one of the latest ones. These have the firmware included again.
Looks like it is simply an issue with the DVD laser not reading DVDs, quite a common issue with these units.
This is what I have done thus far, When I powered everything on...the unit was recognized right away (message on screen said "Navigation activated...Please wait". But, after waiting, I get the dreaded "No DVD Please insert a Navi-DVD (car trunk)" message. My map disc is 2013 (v12.0) and I fear that my Nav processor/unit may require an update in order to read this newer version. I bought the Nav drive from eBay, so I have no way of knowing what version maps it has seen. So, I tried updating it (with the update service disc, part number W211 589 15 22 00), but nothing happens when I put the disc in. It spins (I can hear the Nav processor working), but the update doesn't happen. So...back to the drawing board. Then the unit revert back to the "No DVD..." message again.
