How to sound dampen the whole car?!
Hey everyone, after hours of research I haven't found anything about sound deadening a W211 unless it came along with installing a new subwoofer or something like that.
So here's the deal, I drive a LOT----- like 50,000 miles a year a lot.... and it is most likely me just getting spoiled but my car just isn't as luxurious as it used to seem.
I always like riding in my friend's Toyota Matrix because its loud and has choppy suspension and I appreciate Lola (My 2005 E320) so much more afterwards.
I have a higher end E320 from it's time with airmatic and such...
ANYWAY, before I continue babbling I was wondering how I would go about soundproofing the whole car? I hear a lot of noise when driving on the concrete freeways out here. That's normal for all cars but I want to do all I can to prevent it. On smooth asphalt I just hear noise from the tires. I am about ready to tear up my temper-pedic mattress cover and shove it in the rear pillars, in the door panels, and under the back seats and in the wheel wells.
I was thinking about using a spray sealant along with the thickest sound dampening material I could find.
My overall question is if anyone has tried this, where the best places to focus on are, and if it is worth my time and effort? I don't want to bust the $ on new tires so please don't tell me that will solve all my answers. I have smaller rims and fatter tires to begin with.
Please help! I don't want to drop $500,000 on a Maybach so I can enjoy life in my car

Go to sound deadner showdown. Everything you need to know about is there. Give him a call and he will go over your situation and recommend products as well as placement for maximum effect.

I recently replaced the tires on my 05 E320 CDI with Bridgestone Turanza Serenity ones and while not miraculous, they are definitely quieter than any of the Michelins I've ever had on there before. The Bridgestone folks really did do some thinking about how to make a quieter tire.

the W211 is the quiestest ride i have ever been in and the most comfortable as well. i work for a company that actually manufactures sound dampening material for car audio systems, so i can hook you up with a great deal if you want to try it out, but i highly doubt it'll do anything. +1 on the softer tires.

Easy, just remove your entire interior(seats, carpet, plastic trim, ceiling liner ect) and place deadening material on all the surfaces. A guy did it on the Titan truck forum, it took a couple weeks but he really like the sound of his stereo now.
