Rear suspension floored!

Rear suspension floored!
Good Morning Gentlemen [and Ladies];
I own a 2003 e500 [w/ Air suspension, w/o 4matic] with ~65k miles.
All of the major services have been done at various MB dealerships. L strut replaced in Aug2011 [extended warranty]; R strut Aug 2012 [warranty had expired] so my [very experienced - 30+ years] indy mechanic replaced it with an Arnott.
Yesterday, the rear was floored - both sides. Is that common? What would cause it? Unfortunately, I am on business ~150 miles from home and I had it flat-bedded to the local MB dealer. They will let me know on Monday.
I did have a warning light for the past month but another indy [where I am on business] pulled the codes. The code had to do with the battery / electrical system [checked out and normal] - nothing regarding any suspension issues.
What gives?

P.S. I also asked them to check the VMI - I expect to get that on Monday as well.

since it is both sides of rear I'm guessing its a line or valve problem or maybe air reserve tank.
