My 04 E55 radio is muting automatically for a few seconds. When playing a CD it pauses for a few seconds. Does my system need a reset or am I need of a repair?

 

You say the radio is muting and then you say CD. Do you mean the sound system is muting only when you have are playing CDs? If you have not done so already, try another CD in case the one you are using is damaged. I have no further expertise in sound systems, sorry.

 

Hi sorry for the late response. Thanks for your help. The sound system was muting while playing the radio or a CD. I ended up bringing my car to the dealership and the problem was it needed a new battery. One good thing to know regarding quality is the original MB battery lasted about nine years

 

Hello I just took my 04 e500 to the dealer for the same problem there are a number of t.s.b.'s on this system however i performed all tsb and then had the bcm reflashed/updated. problem solved. I would have the audio gatway reflashed first if i had to do it all over. the new/later firmware has some cool options too. I hope this helps.
