w211 rear wheel bearings (08 e320 bluetec)
Hey, I was wondering if anyone has changed out the rear wheel bearings on there w211? I have done the bearing change on my 99 w210 e300 and did so by making my own homeade puller and install tool. The job was several hours but not impossible.
Looing at the photos of the w211 bearings it looks as the bearing are bolt in (4 bolts )thus making the process much easier.
Anyone have any experience with this task?

I believe that is a GROSS over simplification----you need to go to startekinfo and get document AR3520P0130TX and all the supporting docs----However you seem to like a challenge. Good Luck
PS:If the car has SBC, then you will need someone with DAS Xentry to deactivate/activate the system a further challenge

I've no comment on the ease of changing the bearings....
but disabling SBC is as a simple as unplugging it carefully. Look up the forum topics about SBC and brake jobs.
You don't HAVE to use an electronic tool if all you want to do is simply shut SBC off in order to play with the brakes, axles or bearings. Making SBC bleed/flush fluid fully is another matter.
Again, I am not saying you should or shouldn't do your bearings. I really do endorse getting the printed procedures from MB as Plutoe has recommended. Even if you follow a completely different approach to the standard procedure, you will better understand the issues and risks and you may avoid a nasty surprise.

I regret that when i do work, I follow the manufacturers documentation-----for NON SBC systems I agree with you and the stickies, but if I had the SBC system I follow the mfg's docs not the "Oh I remember crew" stickies, however that is my choice!!

Well you have 24 hours to learn and print-----You have to access WIS somewhere you have to find a way to get to WIS and then do a document search for the document that I referenced. Somewhere there must be a search or help---just be patient you have all night!! Good Luck
I have access to WIS and therefore do not need to access via startekinfo

I finally figured out how to get to the maintenance procedures. Thanks for the help. I have read the procedures for the bearing r&r and I feel confident I can do this task my self. The w211 has 4 bolts that attach the wheel bearing to the spindle and thus makes it much easier than the w210 cars. I will do complete diy procedure with pictures and post it here for any that are interested.
