W211 oil change?
Is there a drain plug on these cars or is sucking it out the only way to get the oil out? I have not gone under the car to look for a drain plug.
FSS+ says that my oil change is due at around 12k miles and I want to change it now (6k).
Thanks.

i would imagine its similar on the W211 to this:

but be careful and go slowly, the first time is always a learning experience.

I brought my car into the dealer with 2400 miles for an unscheduled oil change - the usual early oil change to put fresh oil in after initial assembly. He said they absolutely do not recommend it, and to wait until 10K miles as spec'd by MB. He said it's special oil for break in, and changing it early adversely affects the rings, and may cause smoking later on.
Curious if others have heard this.

New engines are built with more exact tolerances and very little metal is worn away during break in. Also the assembly lube is minimal. However, these particals will be in the filter. There is nothing wrong with the oil. Change the filter and add makeup oil. I often do this at 5000 miles and change the oil at 10000 with Mobil 1. The oil is not as dark as my other car which I change both at 10000 (it's a lease).

![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
My neighbor has a 2001 MB S 430 and called the dealer as he had never had his oil changed. At 12,500 miles the computer signalled OK to change the oil and away he went.
After 25 years of owning BMW cars I found it amazing that when WE were paying for the oil change and tune ups the cars had a once a year or less frequency of 5000 or less miles. Now that MB has to pay for it there is no frequency for anything.
Did the product get better or is it a cost incentive? This question should be answered in time when alot of these cars have 200,000 miles. The the durability question will be in the light.
My thoughts.
Derek.
